About

Workshop on HRTEM is organized annually by Advanced Materials Research Centre (AMREC), SIRIM Berhad since 2012.

This year (2013), this event is supported by Institute of Materials Malaysia (IMM), Crest Systems (M) Sdn Bhd and Gatan Inc.

What is HRTEM?
High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy (HRTEM) is a microscopy technique whereby a beam is transmitted through an ultra thin specimen, interacting with the specimen as it passes through. An image is formed from the interaction of the electrons transmitted through the specimen. The image is magnified and focused onto an imaging device, such as fluorescent screen, on a layer of photographic film. The transmitted beam replicates the patterns on the slide, forming an enlarged image of the slide when falling on the screen.

The workshop includes lectures on several topics related to HRTEM. Speakers are our own experts in HRTEM from SIRIM and also from the industry. Participants will also have the opportunity to experience the imaging process using HRTEM in AMREC, Kedah. Researchers, Scientists, Students, Industrialist related to characterization of materials especially the ones dealing with nanoscale samples are invited to attend this workshop. Limited seats are provided for hands-on session. Participants registered for hands-on session are allowed to bring one own sample* for TEM imaging.

*Results may not be delivered on the same day. Subjected to type of samples, please contact us for clarification.
